- Personally. I like the flashing lights...
-
- But as an a response to the post/follow-up;
- -A 16550AF is a give-me, as is a 25-pin straight through serial cable (good qual.)
- -Software is only as good as the programmer (did it yourself?) - and can't
- match pace with a true hardware response.
- -I count on my modem for work (don't get paid for crap) and an external
- allows me to determine when the "acceptable" level of naks, blers, etc.... has been committed.
-
- On the down side - "desk space" - How Friggin big is this thing ???
-
- But it does add additional cost - then again - I've installed more internals than externals but
- for those that need to connect to quite a few different systems for work - dump the money into a
- great modem/card combination - internal/external is a matter of preference & I won't ever go
- back to an internal... Then again - I just like the flashing lights.
